Project Overview
Nautica was repositioning around color and optimism as part of a broader brand refresh. They needed content that translated this vision into something tangible: raw, cinematic moments that felt vibrant and alive rather than typical fashion advertising. The challenge was capturing that energy across Costa Rica's unpredictable terrain during rainy season with a skeleton crew and tight timeline. Directed and shot a three-day run-and-gun production through Costa Rica's jungle and coastline with a two-person crew. Followed Karl Shakur through dense terrain, racing against weather and fading light to capture adventure-driven content that leaned into movement and spontaneity. Shot on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera FF with minimal gear, adapting to locations on the fly, from jungle trails to coastal breaks, within compressed morning-to-night windows. Delivered one hero 16:9 film and three 9:16 social cuts themed around different aspects of the campaign. Content was featured on Nautica's digital channels and used on Amazon to support fragrance sales.
